The recording captures a 1965 concert at Seattle’s The Penthouse.

A newly unearthed live performance from late jazz saxophonist John Coltrane is set to see a physical release.
A Love Supreme: Live in Seattle comprises audio captured by saxophonist, educator and longtime acquaintance Joe Brazil during a concert that unfolded as part of a week-long residency at Seattle jazz club The Penthouse in 1965, the same year of the lauded and indelible A Love Supreme’s release. Marking one of only several documented occasions wherein Coltrane translated songs from A Love Supreme to a live setting, the performance presents the jazz luminary with a recently expanded band of Pharoah Sanders on saxophone, McCoy Tyner on piano, Elvin Jones on drums and Jimmy Garrison and Donald Garrett on basses.
Brazil recorded the performance using the venue’s in-house system, two microphones and an Ampex reel-to-reel before preserving the tapes within his private collection for over half a century.

A Love Supreme: Live in Seattle releases on October 8th via Impulse! Records. Pre-order the album on CD and vinyl here.
