Devendra Banhart and Noah Georgeson announce new collaborative album

‘In a Cistern’ and ‘Into Clouds’ precede the new age-inspired LP’s full release.

Devendra Banhart and Noah Georgeson have announced the release of a new album entitled Refuge.

The longtime collaborators – who have a creative relationship spanning two decades – set upon recording their new joint venture in 2020, nurturing and building upon a sonic palette that leans in to a shared affection for the New Age musical culture that each were often accompanied by during their formative years in the 1980s and beyond.

Speaking of the album Banhart muses

“We’re hoping to create a sense of comfort and coming back to the moment. It’s really important to have a little bit of space between us and our anxieties and impulses. What you do with that space is up to you.”

‘In A Cistern’ and ‘Into Clouds’ precede the full release of Refuge, revealing a delicate tapestry of harp, pedal steel guitar, synthesizers, piano and more equipped with the means to induce its listeners in to a contemplative and pacified state. Hear both songs below.

Refuge releases on August 13th via Dead Oceans. Pre-order the album on blue seaglass wave translucent vinyl here.
