Kiefer announces new album, shares preview

Hear its titular track and pre-order the album on blue and yellow vinyl in advance.

Grammy Award-winning pianist and producer Kiefer has announced the release of a new album.

Reconvening with LA’s illustrious and multifaceted Stones Throw Records for the release of his second full-length project through the imprint, When There’s Love Around was tracked over three sessions – including one within DJ luminary Jazzy Jeff’s studio – and is noted to mark the first album within Kiefer’s recorded discography to date to execute the deployment of a full band ensemble.

Titular track ‘When There’s Love Around’ arrives in conjunction with the album’s announcement, reinterpreting the Crusaders’ 1974 song of the same name with accompaniment from Andy McCauley, Will Logan and Carlos Niño on bass guitar, drums and percussion respectively whose rhythmic colouring conjures a limber, emotive and spontaneous framework to anchor Kiefer’s expansive, technically deft and well established piano lines and textures.

Become acquainted with ‘When There’s Love Around’ below.

When There’s Love Around releases on August 27th via Stones Throw Records. Pre-order the album on mixed blue and yellow vinyl here.
