Tyler, The Creator shares new song Lumberjack

Following a string visual teasers unveiled over the past week.

Tyler, The Creator has returned with the release of a new song entitled ‘Lumberjack’.

Last week a series of billboards appearing across Los Angeles ignited speculation that new music from the chameleonic rapper and multi-instrumentalist was looming. The billboards featured the phrase “Call Me If You Get Lost” and a telephone number which when dialled, would connect callers to a pre-recorded exchange between Tyler and a woman believed to be his mother. Yesterday subsequently saw another visual teaser appear, this time in video format on YouTube featuring an accompanying jazz and funk-imbued instrumental that culminated with harmonised vocals echoing the same words that were brandished upon the previously seen billboards.

‘Lumberjack’ prominently features a Gravediggaz sample below mixtape-style shoutouts from DJ Drama, whilst the song’s accompanying video sees Tyler move between scenes wherein he manoeuvres through a snowstorm, stands atop a mountain of suitcases and has his fingernails painted.

Whilst Tyler, The Creator has not publicly confirmed the forthcoming release of a new album at present, the Odd Future alumni is internationally scheduled for headlining appearances at a number of festivals including Day N Vegas and Primavera Sound within the coming year.
