Adrian Younge and Ali Shaheed Muhammed recruit the legendary Brian Jackson for new album

Brian Jackson JID008 comes to life on August 6th.

Legendary songwriter, arranger and producer Brian Jackson has announced the release of his first full-length album in over twenty years.

Teaming with Adrian Younge and Ali Shaheed Muhammed for the latest instalment in their acclaimed Jazz Is Dead series, the album will see Jackson helming alto flute, synthesizers and his signature Fender Rhodes electric piano over eight songs.

Speaking of Jackson and his association with Jazz Is Dead, Younge explains

“Brian Jackson is the first album we recorded for Jazz Is Dead. He set the tone for the entire label. He turned our aspirations global. We never knew what this could all be, but with his inspirational character and musicianship, he led us on the right path. We are forever indebted to this icon.”

Preceding the forthcoming album’s full release on August 6th ‘Mars Walk’ and ‘Nancy Wilson’ are available to stream now and reaffirm the jazz and funk luminary’s ever-present musical vitality through an intoxicating blend of sublime melodic lines and languid, limber rhythm.
