Black To The Future will land in May.

London’s Sons Of Kemet have announced the release of a new album.
Black To The Future marks the follow-up to 2018’s widely praised Your Queen Is A Reptile and will see the Shabaka Hutchings-led quartet reconvene with venerable jazz label Impulse! Records for its release on May 14th.
Preceding the album new single ‘Hustle’ suggests the looming arrival of a project equally as commanding and vital as its Mercury Prize-nominated predecessor with the band’s fierce, enthralling and well-established rhythmic arrangement of double drums and bone-rattling tuba underpinning disparate guest vocal stylings from Kojey Radical and Lianne La Havas to great effect.
Discussing Black To The Future Hutchings elaborates
“Black to the Future is a sonic poem for the invocation of power, remembrance and healing. It depicts a movement to redefine and reaffirm what it means to strive for black power.
The meaning is not universal and the cultural context of the listener will shape their understanding. Yet in the end, the overarching message remains the same: For humanity to progress we must consider what it means to be Black to the Future.”
