Bandcamp expand their in-house vinyl pressing service

Available to thousands more users of the platform in 2021.

Bandcamp have announced that this year will see a wider rollout of their vinyl pressing service that was first detailed and piloted to a small group of artists in 2019.

Thursday saw invites that grant access to the new service sent to 10,000 users of Bandcamp with the popular online platform noting that further artists will become eligible to utilise the initiative over the course of the year.

The service has been conceptualised with the aim to offer a streamlined and financially viable way for independent artists to release their music on the reinvigorated but costly vinyl format.

When artists launch a campaign to bring their chosen project to life they are given full creative control over the design process with the ability to select from a range of vinyl colours, jacket options and more. Campaigns being financed by fans that place orders allows up-front investment from the artist to be alleviated, and if the minimum requirement of 250 orders is met within 30 days Bandcamp will then fulfil the entire production process of the physical run, ship the product to pledgers in high-quality packaging and handle all customer service needs.
