Featuring memorabilia from Fat White Family, black midi, Warmduscher, Black Country, New Road and more.

After a year of navigating choppy waters, famed Brixton music venue The Windmill has now been categorised by the Music Venue Trust as as one of thirty venues nationally at most risk of closure as a result of the ongoing pandemic.
The South London institution recently suffered a fatal blow as it was not designated any of the government’s £1.57 billion Culture Recovery Fund due to its operation as a sole trader rather than a limited company.
In light of the news, a new campaign and online auction has been revealed to help generate funds in support of the venue’s fight for survival. Spearheaded by La Staunton, the auction provides the opportunity to bid for memorabilia and one of a kind items from a panoply of acts that the venue has helped give rise to in recent years. Among the items up for grabs are a face-to-face drum lesson with black midi‘s Morgan Simpson, a test pressing of Black Country, New Road‘s vinyl release for Speedy Wunderground, a fuzz pedal created by Japanese Television’s Ian Thorn, a signed photo book from Lou Smith featuring images from the early years of Fat White Family and more.
Also announced is a live streamed collaborative performance featuring black midi and Black Country, New Road. Scheduled to unfold on December 11th at 8pm GMT and viewable via Bandcamp, tickets for the event are priced at £5 and available for purchase here.
