LA Priest’s MiniGENE drum machine is now available to pre-order

The flexible unit featuring kick, snare, tom and hi-hat sounds is priced at £350.

Reclusive psych pop figure Samuel Eastgate has shared a new website where users can place pre-orders for his self-made drum machine.

Named MiniGENE, the device arrives as a compact iteration of the drum machine that the former Late Of The Pier frontman constructed and used as the basis for crafting the body of work that would comprise his well-received 2020 sophomore album released under the LA Priest moniker.

Discussing the device’s features and capabilities in a description on the newly launched site, Eastgate explains

“MiniGENE is a portable all-analog drum machine, designed and handmade by Sam Dust (LA Priest). It has 4 tuneable drum sounds, free tempo and beat timing and 2 automatic or manually switched patterns.

With an emphasis on sonic warmth and rhythmic freedom, its unique sound and controls allow you to reinvent drums.

Each MiniGENE is handmade, calibrated and tested exclusively by LA Priest and includes a unique signed cassette recording of LA Priest performing an improvised piece of music using the drum machine once it is built.

Watch a video demonstration below and place pre-orders for Eastgate’s MiniGENE drum machine, which are expected to ship on December 15th here.
