Nubya Garcia shares scintillating new performance for NPR’s Tiny Desk Concerts series

The saxophonist performs selected songs from Source with accompaniment from KOKOROKO and Ezra Collective members.

Nubya Garcia has shared a new live performance for the latest instalment in NPR’s famed and prolific Tiny Desk (home) concert series.

Captured from within the plant-adorned confines of East London’s moored boat turned recording space Soup Studio, Garcia’s set follows the recent release of her long-awaited debut album Source and offers a scintillating live translation of three tracks from the project. Accompanying the celebrated London saxophonist’s dynamic, ferocious and considered melodic lines are notable faces in Joe Armon-Jones of Ezra Collective, Cassie Kinoshi and Richie Seivwright of afrobeat collective KOKOROKO, Daniel Casmir and Sam Jones.

An engrossing and hypnotic insight in to one of the most accomplished albums to release this year, watch the full performance below.

Words by Sam Wilkinson.
