Last Year Was Weird (Vol. 2) marks the second instalment in a trilogy of projects scheduled for release by the singer-songwriter and her debut release to arrive through esteemed British label 4AD. Boasting impressive stylistic breadth through its eight tracks, the EP spans a wealth of sonics from Brazilian guitar lines and unshakeable funk groove to menacing trap production and an enviable pop sensibility with ease as Maidza’s infectious blend of slick raps and sultry vocals serve as binding ties.
With guest appearances from Kari Faux and JPEGMAFIA, Last Year Was Weird (Vol. 2) features the previously heard singles ‘Awake’, ‘Shook’ and ‘Don’t Call Again’.
