Thundercat has revealed details of his upcoming fourth studio album.

Entitled It Is What It Is, the prodigious bass guitarist shared during a conversation on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 radio show that his latest body of work will release on April 3rd via longtime label Brainfeeder.

Preceding the project’s full release is its first single which premieres today and taps an all-star cast of collaborators; Donald Glover, The Internet’s Steve Lacy and funk pioneer Steve Arrington of Slave.

‘Black Qualls’ sees the Californian musician further expand upon his ability to seamlessly collate wildly disparate stylistic threads, blending dexterous bass runs and rich chord progressions with an irrefutable penchant for hooks and pop sensibility.
