Caribou shares new single Home

Hear Dan Snaith’s first release under the moniker in five years.

Canadian multi-instrumentalist Dan Snaith has shared his first single as Caribou in five years. Entitled ‘Home’ the single is constructed around elements of Gloria Barnes’ 1971 song of the same name and features arrangement contributions from UK electronic musician and frequent collaborator Kieran Hebden.

Discussing the new cut which premiered on BBC Radio 1 as Annie Mac’s ‘Hottest Record In The World’ Snaith elaborates,

“I’m always listening to lots of music and sometimes a loop just jumps out at me – it’s too perfect. That’s how it was with Gloria Barnes’ ‘Home’ – I kept returning to it, meaning to do something with it but not knowing what.

Sometimes making music feels like a process I’m in charge of … but there other times, when things just present themselves and my job is to follow their lead. It wasn’t until the circumstances of someone close to me mirrored the refrain of the original song that the track all came together.”

Coinciding with the release of new material Snaith has announced an international tour schedule which includes a run of UK performances that conclude on April 7th at London’s O2 Academy Brixton. Tickets for all dates go on sale at 9am on Friday 11th October.
