Behringer have revealed plans to clone Yamaha’s highly regarded and seldom seen CS-80 analogue synthesizer.

A Facebook post from Behringer stated the company’s intention to share an early design concept of what they dubbed the ‘DS-80’. The Music Tribe brand have since shared the below post that features various images of their reinterpretation of the famed synth. Within the post company head Uli Behringer reaffirmed his commitment to bring the concept to fruition.

The post also notes that their concept honours the original instrument’s key features; eight voice polyphony, a layered keyboard that is pressure-sensitive with polyphonic aftertouch and a ribbon controller that allows for polyphonic pitch bend and glissando.

The CS-80 clone follows a number of other well received units created by Behringer that serve as reincarnations of famous discontinued synthesizer designs. The company’s take on the Moog Minimoog Model D, Roland SH-101 and Roland VP-330 are currently available to purchase from most reputable instrument retailers.

In addition to the instruments that are currently in full production, Behringer have shared images and videos of ARP Odyssey, KORG MS20 and Roland TR-808 clones which remain unreleased at present.

Stay tuned for more information on Behringer’s DS-80 synthesizer as it becomes available.
