Temporarily deviating from his position as a key component in the legendary hip-hop collective Sa-Ra Creative Partners, LA-based multi-instrumentalist Shafiq Husayn has returned to release his sophomore solo album.

Constructed over a seven year period following the release of Husayn’s solo debut, The Loop is a celestial pilgrimage that explores the realms of hip-hop, jazz and soul with help from a host of collaborators. Among those featured are Erykah Badu, Bilal, Anderson .Paak, Robert Glasper, Kamasi Washington, Thundercat, Josef Leimberg, Fatima and Flying Lotus.

To coincide with his new LP, Husayn also collaborated with Japanese artist Tokio Aoyama to create a painting for each of the album’s 17 tracks.

A white label vinyl run of The Loop is set for arrival on May 30th, however the album is available to stream in full ahead of its physical release. Listen below.
