Mac DeMarco details new album Here Comes The Cowboy, shares single

The singer-songwriter will also curate a festival in Margate this Spring as part of London promoter Bird On The Wire’s tenth anniversary celebrations.

Mac DeMarco has announced a new album due for release in Spring.

The follow-up to 2017’s gentle and introspective This Old Dog will arrive on May 10th and marks the first release through the singer-songwriter’s own Mac’s Record Label.

Here Comes The Cowboy was written, recorded and mixed over the first two weeks of January 2019 at DeMarco’s Los Angeles home, and in keeping with his previous albums was a solo endeavour save for a handful of contributions from pianist Alec Meen.

In a press release for the album, Mac comments

“This one is my cowboy record. Cowboy is a term of endearment to me, I use it often when referring to people in my life. Where I grew up there are many people that sincerely wear cowboy hats and do cowboy activities. These aren’t the people I’m referring to.”

Hear new single ‘Nobody’ and watch an accompanying visual that sees DeMarco transformed to a part-lizard, part-cowboy state.

Of the 2019 tour dates scheduled in support of Mac’s new album, an appearance at Barcelona’s Primavera Sound and accompaniment on selected dates of Anderson .Paak’s forthcoming “Best Teef In The Game Tour” have been confirmed.

Additionally, it has now been revealed that DeMarco will both curate and headline an all-day music event at Margate’s Dreamland amusement park as part of London promoter Bird On The Wire’s tenth birthday celebrations. No further details for the event have been announced yet, however tickets priced at £36 will go on sale to the public on March 8th at 10am GMT.
