The venue will host two closing parties to see out its current guise in style.

London music venue KOKO has revealed plans to undergo a major new redevelopment.
The historic venue – which has been a long-standing pillar of Camden’s eclectic live music scene – will close next month to receive a “major £40million state-of-the-art transformation”.
Notable previous guests to perform at the North London staple since its inception include The Rolling Stones, Prince, Elton John and more recently Kanye West and Ariana Grande.
The plans for redevelopment follow an unexpected closure that occurred in 2018 as the venue were forced to carry out essential structural work, and will see doors reopen in Spring 2020.
A press release detailing the venue’s redevelopment plans reads
“The redevelopment of the venue includes the acquisition of two adjacent buildings and a complete renovation of the rooftop area, adding more than 20,000sqft of new spaces, whilst retaining the main venue’s intimate 1,500 person capacity. The transformation will position KOKO as London’s newest and most innovative multi-media venue, creating a social destination where high-quality music, food, entertainment, and hospitality come together in ways never seen before.”
The plans which are led by David Archer – whose noteworthy contributions to London’s architectural skyline include The Shard and Chiltern Firehouse – will see the venue retain its intimate 1500 capacity whilst boasting six different performance areas, three restaurants and a penthouse suite where acts can rehearse and record music whilst in the capital.
KOKO will host two closing parties before its doors temporarily shut. The first takes place on Saturday 2nd March. Find details here.
