After an unquestionably restless 2018, Oscar Jerome has shared a new single to see in the new year.
The guitarist – whose stylistic awareness and songwriting chops have been championed by Gilles Peterson, Boiler Room and BBC – holds a key presence in the jazz scene that has been oozing through the cracks of South London’s streets for several years, performing with the likes of Joe Armon-Jones and Kokoroko whilst sporadically releasing music under his own name that owes its sound to Gil Scott-Heron, Ebo Taylor and D’Angelo in equal measure.
His latest solo endeavour, entitled ‘Misty Head / Sunny Street’ is a funk-laden cut that begins with an unassuming bed of shuffling drums and electronic textures before warping in to a pulsating, Summer-friendly chorus that calls to mind the work of Jamiroquai.
