Neneh Cherry has announced a new album. Arriving on October 19th courtesy of Smalltown Supersound and Awal Recordings, Broken Politics features production from UK electronic musician Kieran Hebden, better known as Four Tet throughout.

‘Shot Gun Shack’, the eighth song from the newly announced album is available to stream now and is accompanied by the LP’s Wolfgang Tillmans-created artwork.

Discussing the title of the first single from Broken Politics, Cherry said that she heard the phrase whilst attending the funeral of late jazz saxophonist Ornette Coleman.

“I don’t even remember who said it, but I was like, ‘Shotgun shack! That’s a cool term.’ It’s about gun culture—the notion of war zones and the tragedies that guns bring there.”
