‘Con Conn Was Impatient’ arrives with an accompanying video that features footage from the record’s companion film Bostyn ‘N Dobsyn.
Kiwi musician Connan Mockasin has officially announced the release of his new album Jassbusters, which will arrive via Mexican Summer on October 12th. The album is Mockasin’s third overall – following 2013’s Caramel – though his first with a full band in tow throughout the recording process.
Jassbusters co-incides with a melodramatic film entitled Bostyn ’n Dobsyn which together comprise a concept project, built around an idiosyncratic band of high school music teachers fronted by Mr. Bostyn, an ageing guitarist who is portrayed by Mockasin in the motion picture.
Both the film and album were created in Summer 2016, with the former shot over a ten day period inside a disused LA hair salon and the latter recorded in the Parisian Studios Ferber shortly thereafter.
Today Mockasin shares ‘Con Conn Was Impatient’, the first song lifted from Jassbusters. The single is accompanied by a video that features footage from the record’s companion film.
In support of the new project, Mockasin has announced an international tour dubbed ‘Connan Mockasin presents Bostyn ’n Dobsyn with Jassbusters’. The shows, which take place throughout Autumn will feature a screening of the motion picture, followed by a performance of Jassbusters material and finally a closing set by Mockasin and his live band.
