The Internet’s highly anticipated fourth album has arrived. Hive Mind follows the Odd Future expats’ 2015 Grammy nominated album Ego Death and successful solo efforts that were released throughout 2017.

Glimpses of Hive Mind were given in preceding singles ‘Roll (Burbank Funk)’, ‘Come Over’ and ‘La Di Da’ which together aptly showcase the eclecticism that the thirteen track album offers. Nods to quiet storm, neo-soul, disco and funk are filtered in to a body of work that brims with a youthful fearlessness to experimentation, feeling somewhat less cohesive, though more exploratory and ultimately rewarding than previous albums.

Keyboardist and producer Matt Martians recently elaborated on the meaning of the album title, stating

“A hive mind is a collective ego… When people are together, they have a collective mindset. When we’re together, we all have a common goal and we move in the same direction.”
