The fourth album from Dev Hynes’ project arrives in August.

Following a visual teaser shared on his Instagram page earlier today, Dev Hynes has now confirmed that his fourth album as Blood Orange is completed and ready for release. Negro Swan will arrive via Hynes’ long-time label Domino Recording Company on August 24th.
The New York based singer-songwriter previously confirmed that his follow-up to 2016’s Freetown Sound was “78%” complete in October 2017, before releasing two new compositions for Black History Month in February of this year.
Discussing the themes behind his new LP, Hynes said the following in a statement issued today,
“My newest album is an exploration into my own and many types of black depression, an honest look at the corners of black existence, and the ongoing anxieties of queer/people of color,” Hynes said in a statement. “A reach back into childhood and modern traumas, and the things we do to get through it all. The underlying thread through each piece on the album is the idea of hope, and the lights we can try to turn on within ourselves with a hopefully positive outcome of helping others out of their darkness.”
