After his 2016 breakout in the wake of sophomore album Malibu and the unveiling of a collaborative album with Stones Throw beatmaker Knxwledge under their Nxworries alias, Anderson .Paak has made his triumphant return.

‘Bubblin’, which premiered yesterday during Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 show on Apple Music sees .Paak flex his rap muscles over production from Jhalil Beats and Antman Wonder, whilst the accompanying Calmatic-directed visual depicts a story in which .Paak enjoys the fruits of a chance encounter with an ATM that perpetually dispenses cash.

In reference to the string and horn heavy cut, .Paak said the following to Lowe during his interview for Beats 1,

“I had the beat from Jhalil Beats and Antman Wonder. Jhalil sent me a pack of beats, you know 50, 60 beats. I loved them all. I was just writing to all these beats and that was one of them that I just loved off top. It sounded like some black 007 action adventure high speed chase type of music. It gets the energy going, gets the blood going.”

Elsewhere in the conversation, .Paak discussed the wealth of material that he has prepared for his next project, stating that he has “65, 000 songs in the vault”. Furthermore, he confirmed that recording for a currently untitled follow-up to Malibu is underway with help from Dr. Dre.

Tune in to the Robin Velghe illustrated and Andy Baker animated visual below which sees .Paak and Knxwledge cruise the sunny streets of California in what is just another day in the life for two of contemporary hip-hop’s best.
