Moog have unveiled The Grandmother, a new synthesizer set to make its debut at Moogfest 2018.
The semi-modular instrument features an all-analog make-up and boasts 41 patch points, a built-in arpeggiator, onboard sequencer, Moog’s ladder filter and a spring reverb tank to boot.
In an official press release, the company states that the instrument “harkens back to Moog’s modular roots, where synthesis is not only about the end result, but the journey of discovery and experimentation.”
They continue,
“Grandmother’s semi-modular design ensures that human beings of any skill-level can easily explore and experience the joys and magic of analog synthesis — start playing immediately with “no patching required”, then explore an infinite sonic playground with Grandmother’s endlessly reconfigurable front panel and analog spring reverb tank.”

See the Grandmother’s capabilities below in a demo featuring composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist Adrian Younge who has previously worked with the likes of Souls of Mischief, Jay-Z, Kendrick Lamar and Wu-Tang Clan to name but a few.
