After making noise on the British jazz scene for several years as a member of Ezra Collective, South London based keyboardist Joe Armon-Jones recently announced that he would step forward to release his first full-length solo effort through Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood label in 2018.

‘Starting Today’, the first offering and title track of Jones’ debut LP arrived in March and showcased a melting pot of influences including hard-bop, dub, afrobeat, psychedelia and spiritual jazz over the course of an erratic and dizzying nine minutes. New single ‘Almost Went Too Far’ assumes a more subtle and understated approach, traversing leisurely through the realms of jazz fusion and providing the necessary breather to listeners following the preceding single.

Tune in below.

Starting Today releases on May 4th via Brownswood.
