Wide Awake! will feature production from Danger Mouse.
Parquet Courts are set to release their new album entitled Wide Awake! on May 18th. The album features production throughout from Danger Mouse and will be released by Rough Trade.
The first glimpse of the album comes in the form of ‘Almost Had To Start A Fight / In And Out Of Patience’ alongside an accompanying video that features artwork from the band’s own Andrew Savage. Citing Big Boys, Minutemen and Flipper as touchstones for the record, the band state in a press release that there was a conscious decision to move away from the ballad orientated songs that featured on 2016’s Human Performance.
Of the band’s unlikely pairing with Danger Mouse, Savage said,
“The ethos behind every Parquet Courts record is that there needs to be change for the better, and the best way to tackle that is to step out of one’s comfort zone. I personally liked the fact that I was writing a record that indebted to punk and funk, and Brian’s a pop producer who’s made some very polished records. I liked that it didn’t make sense.”
