Bishop Nehru shares his Quentin Tarantino inspired music video for Rooftops

Taken from the New York MC’s DOOM and Kaytranada produced sophomore album.

In January Bishop Nehru announced the release of the follow-up to his 2014 debut NehruvianDOOM, scheduled to arrive on March 16th. The forthcoming album, entitled Elevators sees MF DOOM return to assume production duties alongside Kaytranada and will be presented in two parts: Act I (ascension) and Act II (free falling).

In advance of the album comes Nehru’s new single ‘Rooftops’ alongside an accompanying visual which the New York based MC stated was inspired by the work of Frank Miller and Quentin Tarantino. Watch the music video below.

Of the album, Nehru said the following,

“This project is a collection of my feelings straight from my heart, all of my ideas were created specifically off of instinct and intuitive occurrences.”

“This album is my answer to the question, ‘What would you say your music sound like?’ My answer to that would be ‘Grammy Rap.’ There’s ‘mumble rap’ and then there’s ‘Grammy rap.’ With this project I was largely influenced by music theory and Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys. This is my attempt at a ‘rap’ Pet Sounds.”

Preceding the release date, fans in Toronto, Los Angeles and New York can enter a competition where winners will attend a listening party with Bishop Nehru in their respective location, hearing the album in full. A listening party for UK fans took place in London on February 15th. Read full details of the scheduled events here.

Elevators releases independently on March 16th.
