The supergroup will release their debut album as August Greene on March 9th.
August Greene is a supergroup comprising of musical dignitaries Common, Robert Glasper and Karriem Riggins. The project debuted in January with ‘Optimistic’, though the three musicians are long-time collaborators – perhaps most notably on Common’s 2016 LP Black America Again.
This week they return to share ‘Black Kennedy’, the second offering their forthcoming eponymous debut album that is set for release on March 9th. As with their previous Brandy featuring single and a wealth of all three members’ respective discographies, the track explores the juncture where jazz and hip-hop meet.
Of the song, Common said
“For many people the Kennedy family symbolises royalty and represents power, style, and influence. And I thought if I’m gonna do it, I’m gonna do it in a black way.”

August Greene releases on March 9th as an Amazon Music Exclusive.
