Triathalon’s Online will lull you in to a meditative state

The new-to-New Yorkers get heady on their third LP.

Having recently relocated to the Big Apple from their native Savannah, Georgia, Triathalon have created their most fully realised body of work to date in the process.

Gone are the jangly surf licks and in place are flourishes of harmonised vocals and carefully considered keyboard arrangements over downtempo, heady drum grooves. The aforementioned combines to create a sonic development that distinguishes the band from their contemporaries and firmly cements their status as a force to be reckoned with.

Of the album, band member Hunter Jayne noted to The Fader,

“These songs reflect the struggles of balancing normal life and music life, having personal relationships, and being on tour. It explores how the internet affects our perceptions as individuals and as artists. In the process of making this album we were in different places not only geographically, but also artistically. Adam moved to New York, bought a Casio and started making demos to send to Chad and me in Savannah [Georgia.] At the time we were all listening to different types music which gave the record multifaceted depth and inspired new approaches to our respective instruments.”
