Questlove announces Dave Chappelle, Brandy, The Diplomats for the 2018 iteration of the Roots Picnic

The prolific drummer of The Roots shared the news via Instagram.

Today Questlove announced a slew of names set to appear at the Roots Picnic, an annual day-long festival set to return in 2018 for its eleventh year. This year’s picnic will take place on June 2nd at Philadelphia’s Festival Pier.

In usual fashion, The Roots will headline with a jam session – hosted by comedian Dave Chappelle – featuring special guests yet to be announced. In previous years artists performing in the jam session have included D’Angelo, Wu-Tang Clan, Usher and Pharrell.

Also filling out top spots on the bill are Brandy, The Diplomats, Lil Uzi Vert, Dirty Projectors, 6lack and 2 Chainz.

Furthermore, The Roots’ frontman Black Thought will return to the main stage to host his annual live mixtape with J. Period that will feature guests Fabolous and Jadakiss.

Canadian jazz fetishists and hip-hop house band BadBadNotGood, Goldlink and Sun Ra Arkestra are also amongst those announced.
