Featuring production from Steve Lacy throughout.
Recently we shared the accompanying music video for Ravyn Lenae’s ‘Sticky’, which served as the first glimpse of her upcoming Steve Lacy produced EP.
Today marks the official release of the 19 year old Chicagoan’s EP entitled Crush, following on from a minor delay that set the record’s unveiling back by two weeks. In support of the release Lenae gave her debut performance of lead single ‘Sticky’ last night on MTV’s TRL in New York City.
Comprised of Steve Lacy’s now signature P-funk styled guitars and synthesizer sounds akin to those of early 2000’s R&B that accompany Lenae’s layered vocal arrangements throughout, the EP pulls at many threads stylistically. The end product, similarly to Lacy’s own debut, sounds fresh and innovative whilst retaining a nostalgic quality due to its nods to the past.
