Wooden Shjips return with Staring At The Sun

The San Francisco space rockers will release their new album in May.

Wooden Shjips have shared a seven minute long slow-burner entitled ‘Staring At The Sun’. The track precedes the release of their new album V which arrives in May via Thrill Jockey. The song was written by singer/guitarist Ripley Johnson as he watched wildfires ravage the Pacific Northwest during the summer of last year.

Described in a press release as “inspired by the tumult of the modern world, and the desire to offer a contrasting vision of peace” and “the perfect summer album, brimming with optimism and a peaceful energy, aptly timed for release at the height of spring“, the music will mark the band’s first since 2013’s Back To Land.
