American composer and trombonist Peter Zummo has announced the release of recordings that date back to 1984 and were recently unearthed from his archives.
The new album entitled Frame Loop features the late disco maverick Arthur Russell playing amplified cello alongside Bill Ruyle on marimba and Mustafa Ahmed on congas. Zummo completes the lineup playing trombone and euphonium.
Zummo refers to the recordings as “‘an exercise in spontaneous arrangement“.
