Ebo Taylor has announced plans for a North American tour set to unfold in late 2024 with accompaniment from long-running collaborator Pat Thomas.

Presented by Adrian Younge and Ali Shaheed Muhammad’s Jazz Is Dead imprint, the newly announced tour will commence in early October and mark the first time that the venerated Ghanaian highlife pairing perform live in the continent together after over fifty years spent associated as close musical collaborators. Stops on the tour will include concerts held in Los Angeles, Portland, Seattle, Denver, Atlanta, Chicago, Toronto, Boston, New York City and more.

Jazz Is Dead share of the tour,

“With a career spanning over half a century, Taylor’s influence on African music is undeniable, from his early days with highlife bands like the Stargazers to collaborations with Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti. Taylor’s innovative blend of traditional Ghanaian music with jazz, funk, and Afrobeat creates a signature sound showcased in albums like “Ebo Taylor & the Pelikans” and “Tower Nyame.” Experience the evolution of Taylor’s musical journey, from his pioneering horn arrangements to his timeless classics like “Heaven,” as he takes the audience on a soul-stirring exploration of African rhythms and melodies.”
